never heard of a tie in 2 track events, only tie i know of in international event was 200m at 1982 commonwealth games when Mike McFarlane and Alan Wells shared the gold medal.

a few ties in the NCAA.. I can think of 400 one year and maybe a 10K, but that's not "international."

It really did happen. Moreover, none of the two events was a sprint...

Both of the ties were in women's events, and one of them was between two women from the same country.

Another one you should remember well was the 1996 European Superleague 200, with Linford Christie and Georgios Panayiotopoulos tied for 1st place. Needless to say, that's not the answer to my question.

In 1985, in the European Junior Championships in Cottbus, East Germany, Mari Cruz Diaz and Maria Reyes Sobrino of Espania shared the gold medal in the 5000m track walk in a time of 22.56.84. In the same championships, Maria Pintea of Romania and Gabriela Sedlakova of Checkoslovakia also shared the gold medal in the 800m with a time of 2.03.22. Do I get the toaster now?

Gee, I hate to show a "parochial" point of view, but in the elite-competition mode that T&FN usually espouses, European Junior meets harldy counts as an "international championship event" unless you give a hint that it's a trick question. What's next, Euro Under-23 Trivia? (yeah, I know, to Euros that's just as signifcant as the NCAA trivia which dominates this board, but you gotta recognize your audience)

                    Excuse me ???
They're called EUROPEAN (i.e. international) Junior CHAMPIONSHIPS. Whether they are a 'major' event may depend on your point of view, but you're trying to deny the obvious here.
