  • Dion Bentley

    All,

I was looking at lists when I saw the name Dion Bentley in the LJ. I noticed he was from Penn Hills, which is on the other side of Pittsburgh from where I went to high school and presently attend college. Anyway, did he ever do anything of note, outside of his HS records?

Thanks, Az. What he says makes sense, he was a great jumper that just hit his prime at the wrong time. I find it somewhat surprising he's not coaching at all - certainly Western PA could use some good track people other than Roger Kingdom. It's football first, second and third around here.

Interestingly enough, he still holds the Penn State facility record in the Long Jump from high school (there has been a new fieldhouse built since, but it is still regarded as a "facility" record for being done at PSU indoors), even after years and years of collegiate jumpers taking a shot at it.

Now, that Dion has been mentioned, which Pennsylvnia born long jumper was the longest jump of any PA born jumper??

I'm in Philly, so we get decent T&F coverage.

Presumably Satch's question turns on "Dion" - and "runaround Sue"
