Happy birthday today (Wednesday) to an Olympic champion with three gold medals in the same event.

Our birthday athlete was born 140 years ago this day and this person died at the age of 65.

This champion set a world record in winning the last of the three gold medals.

The mystery athlete was not born in the nation that this athlete represented in the Olympic Games.

Born and died in the same country, our birthday person was employed in law enforcement.

On June 3, 2013, 75 years will have passed since this champion's death.

Forget the hurdles when trying to figure this gold medalist's name.

Name our birthday athlete who had a 40th birthday the same day Richard M. Nixon was born (that makes Nixon 100 today).

As no one has tackled this, I'm going to say John Flanagan.

      Re: Joseph

It does sound awfully like Flanagan, but I'm fairly sure he didn't set a WR at the 1908 Olympics...

You're right, dj, it is John Flanagan and you're right, LopenUupunut, Flanagan did not set a world record at the London Olympics. I should have said that he set an Olympic record in 1908. A happy birthday yesterday to John Flanagan.
