He was a 23-2 jumper as the year began and in the weeks before Modesto jumped 25-2 and 25-5 in collegiate meets. I think that pretty much makes him "unknown" to all but the hard core.

... was Shinnick really a 'vitual unknown' at the time, as most internet articles are describing. Seems like his 'other' marks were decent and prominant on the US scene ... wind issue and recent sparring aside
