  • Help, need old HS shotput data

I have all the old T&F News annual best marks for HS annual bests from 1948 thanks to WWW.LHS.FUHSD.ORG except for the following years: 1969 and 1990 to 1998. Where can I get the top ten results for the missing years. My interest is SP and discus.

Also, why was Jesse Stuart's 73'-11-1/2" never recognized as a prep record in 1970?

    Thanks in advance.

I attended HS from 1990 -1993. The only year that I am certain of is 1990...

    Brent Noon:74-11 Indoors, 76-2 Outdoors

As far as Jeese Stuart's throw, I don't think it was done during an "official" meet. I remember talking to one of my coaches and he said the throw took place during a team scrimmage.

I think the best outdoor throw in 1993 was by Jeff Buckey: 65-9,but I am not certain. I have to look for my copy of the gray book for National HS marks and records.

Ok, here's a few more marks.

      1968 - Sam Walker 72-3.25
      1991 - Dennis Black 70-7.5

      These are outdoor marks, only.

Stuart was overage (19) and thus ineligible to compete for his HS. His long throw was at the Bellaire Relays in Ohio, but was considered an exhibition because of his ineligibility.

Check w/ our HS Editor, Jack Shepard, about buying back issues of his High School Track annual. Not sure what years are still available.
