  • This Track & Field Athlete has . . .

This Track and Field athlete has not only appeared on his/her nation's postage stamp, but also on its currency. Any guesses? (I have one athlete in mind, but it's possible there is more than one that has earned that distinction.)

The ten mark note in 1987. And if you on your country's currency, it's a sure bet you've been on its stamps. In Nurmi's case, three times. I wonder if any other athlete has had this honor.

Unfortunately, modern printing technology has rendered the stamp honours considerably auspicious.

For example, over past few Olympiads (and perhaps also Commonwealth Games) Australia Post has issued stamps for every Aussie medallist within a day of the medal. This includes Paraolympics, so there'd be no shortage of repeat appearances.

Of the non-AWD folks, Steve Hooker may well have been on 3 already.

I'm sure this has not been popular with philatelists :?
