    One of the All-Time best!!
When I first started reading T&FN (January 1962), Budd was one of the guys on the front page.
And he was on there often!
Hayes, Carr, Pender, Budd....all names from that era I remember well!
    Sad.

Very sad, especially for those of us born in the 1940's. I saw Frank Budd run a few times in the early 1960's. He died too young.

My first "big time" outdoor meet that I saw was the 1961 AAU at Randall's Island in NY. Many unforgettable memories from that meet for me, including of course Budd'sd 9.2.

I have an old football magazine that breaks down each teams roster, when it gets to the wide receivers for the Eagles.....

          Frank Budd....fastest man in pads.

While pro football didn't pan out he was one of the sprint greats, RIP.

It's amazing that Frank Budd and Paul Drayton were both Villanova class of 1962. What are the chances, even back then of such a small school having two of the fastest men on the planet? Both of them hold school records that will likely never be broken.
