Happy 72nd birthday today (Thursday) to an Olympic champion whose son competed in three Olympics.

Our Olympic gold medalist with a Valentine's Day birthday competed in two Olympic Games and earned medals in only one of those two Games.

The mystery athlete for today won two Olympic gold medals and one Olympic silver medal in the same country in which this champion was born.

Remember that son who competed in three Olympics? He did not compete in the same event as his mystery relative (the one with a birthday today).

Please try to name our birthday athlete for this Valentine's Day in 2019.

I think it may be Heide Rosendahl (Gold LJ & 4x100, silver pentathlon in Munich '72, also competed in Mexico 68?) and her son would be Danny Ecker the pole vaulter?

Happy birthday today to Heide Rosendahl. She turned 72 today. Very nice work, Trickstat. Heide won the long jump and anchored the winning four by 100 relay team which equaled the world record at 42.81. Yes, she took the silver medal in the pentathlon, too. Her winning jump in the long jump (6.78) would have place seventh in the 2016 Rio Olympic women's long jump. Danny Ecker is her son (the pole vaulter).

Her husband, John Ecker, and Danny's father, played basketball at UCLA on winning NCAA champions back in 1969-71. He was mostly a bench player.
