Happy 54th birthday today (Monday) to an Olympic champion who still holds the current world record in an event in which this athlete competed in three Olympic Games.

Our birthday person won two gold medals at the World Championships and five gold medals at the World Indoor Championships.

This individual set a world record approximately 555 miles (893 km) from this person's place of birth.

No hurdles were involved in our birthday athlete's Olympic event.

If I told you that our birthday athlete also owns an Olympic silver medal, you would probably know this person's name.

Go ahead and name our birthday athlete for this final Monday of March.

I think it is Stefka Kostadinova, recordwoman of
the high jump with her 2m09 since 1987 !

Happy birthday today to Stefka Kostadinova (54) who won the 1996 Olympic gold medal in the high jump. Of course Stefka is the only current world record holder that fits the bill with our clues. She took the Olympic silver medal in Seoul (1988) and she was fourth place in the 1992 Olympic high jump in Barcelona. Kostadinova also set the current world record in Rome (1987) at the second World Championships. That was almost 32 years ago! Very well done jmdjmd.
