Dillard was the oldest USA Olympic gold medalist in any sport and the oldest living athletics gold medalist. The oldest USA Olympic gold medalist now becomes Eugene Rogers, a 1948 swimming Olympian who won a relay gold. The oldest athletics gold medalist is now Dana Zatopkova, javelin gold medalist from 1952 for Czechoslovakia. The oldest living USA athletics gold medalist now becomes Bob Richards - 1952-56 pole vault champion.
Contrary to what is being written in some obituaries, Dillard was not the oldest living Olympic gold medalist in any sport. That remains Agnes Keleti, a Hungarian gold medalist from the 1952 and 1956 Olympics in gymnastics.Last edited by bambam1729; 11-16-2019, 08:39 AM.
