Darrell Robinson has got the record (44.69), but there are a slew of runners that were great to, and some that got injured and missed there final senior seasons. I myself never saw Robinson compete in high school
William Reed comes to mind, has got the frosh record at 46.55 and the junior class record at 45.17. I saw that 45.17 in Arizone in '87, where he beat the future Olympic Champ Steve Lewis (45.76 that race)Just a incredible talent, who never reached his full potential. Out of all the great HS 400 runners i have seen, he's the best i saw. Sad that he got injured and missed his entire senior year.
Obea Moore as well, 45.14 as a soph, and also ran a 1:49.16 800 as a soph. Saw him a couple times to, always thought he was a little overrun, because of all the relays and multiple individual races. He and Reed ran similiar times from freshman year to junior year, always wished the came along at the same time so we could of seen them run head to head. Hurt his hamstring senior year, and never was the same.
Henry Thomas. Super Speed, 10.25 100, and a 45.09 400 meters. He was also injured senior year and missed a huge chunk of the season, but ran the 45.09 after injury, which made me think what could he ran if he stayed healthy that year?
Possible sub 45.
Other names
Clinton Davis (super 200 guy in hs
Calvin Harrison
Chris Nelloms (saw him run to, he's def up there, very fast, and very versaitaile)
