    Re: Between 1943-46

This entire thread simply amazes me. It would be trite and an overstatement to say that "This is how wars gets started." Even so, it's not far off.

How can such an innocuous question lead to this?
"Cool the smartass mouth jerk......got it!"
    And this:
"Once again (for about the umpteenth time) Brutal demonstrates that guys who talk toughest are the most thin-skinned."

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a "Can't we all just get along" kind of guy, but this is ridiculous.

I will say that some posters here seem to ride the Witty Train too often, with stops along the way at Sarcasm, Attempted Sophistication, Dismissiveness, and Implied Superiority.

Once you get to know everyone though you find out that it's just an affectation, and most here are actually pretty nice.

speak for yourself - my goal is to become the Godzilla of this board, supplanting certain others who shall remain nameless. I'm sure I can demean, insult, ridicule, and lambaste with the best of 'em. My favorite tactic will be the 'ad hominem' attack, where I take some unsuspecting poster and harass him so badly, he won't even want to post here anymore. I'm sure that could have never happened here before.

Scott, I plead innocent by reason of insanity. Here are the quotes you cited:

"Cool the smartass mouth jerk......got it!"
              And this:
"Once again (for about the umpteenth time) Brutal demonstrates that guys who talk toughest are the most thin-skinned."

Brutal is responsible for the first. I posted the second. IMOH Brutal's remark is typical of the way the guy deals with other posters. Brutal is very knowledgeable and has some interesting ideas but he is a social disaster who believes he can intimidate people by typing ill-tempered insults via the internet! Reading his diatribe made me nuts enough to point out his consistently irrational behavior. I should know better.

Is THAT what happened to "Coach Bennett"? Oh, wait, we all took our shots at CB.

                  Re: Between 1943-46

When somebody asks me if I'm aware of WWII ya know the one in all the papers what is that saying? Obviously I'm aware of WWII and obviously I wasn't around then to read any paper. It's nothing but a smart ass remark so I treated it as such. Be cool with me and I'll be cool with you.......bingo!!!!!!!! If ya want to be a punk I'll treat you like one.......bingo!!!!!!!

All that had to be said was..."due to the war years Trinidad had few oppurtunuties to field a national team".

But you keep telling us you know everything. I was just in shock that you had apparently missed a minor conflict.

As you read above "yes" Trinidad ran a national 4x1 team so my question was a valid one. Why not appreciate the history I can bring and cool the crap?

I'm a track historian does that bother you?

i hate agreeing with brutal, it always seem more fun to disagree with him, but he did have a valid point, and u attcked a little quickly,

1948 was the countries first olympics, they werent even an independent nation until 1962 (?)
between 58 and 62 they competed as The Antillies/British West Indies with Jamaica and Barbados, in 1946 T&T competed in colombia at the central american and carribean games.

there was 5 fast Trini guys on the world scene and Brutal simply asked why there wasnt a good relay time for them, you reponse of there being a war, coudl come into play but there were still some meets happening around the world

Who was the sprinter in the 1976 Olympic 100 meter dash final in lane 2 between Hasely Crawford (lane 1) and Valery Borzov (lane 3)?
He seemed to hang with everyone for 60 meters before the horses shifted into another gear.
