I actually got that idea from an old Track&Field News. They had a few funky relays like "the color team" and "the natural resources team"....haha!!!They had Rocky Woods.....haaha!!!!

    Can't remember which one.

    Garry?

    Brutal, your relays are crazy!!!
I admire your creative and poetical spirit giving
birth to fantasmagoric and impossible relays.

I agree and had him there. Then remembered how thickly muscled he was and decided to go with Newman instead.

I was looking for guys over 200 pounds with speed. Hayes was around 190. Yes he was a powerhouse. Not sure Crawford and Carlos were over 200 they did appear bigger than Hayes however.

Calvin Smith was frail not unlike Willie Deckard and Del Meriweather. I was looking for short and small. Smith wasn't all "that" short.

Yep that Homer Jones who once beat Bob Hayes in a 200.Yes that Travis Williams who ran a 9.3 at Arizona State back in the day.

Jones played with the Giants and the Browns.Williams was a Packer and a Ram.

If I'm not mistaken Homer Jones has the distinction of being the first player to score a touchdown on Monday Night Football.

Thank you Steve,it's been a life long love affair which started around 1962. I was flipping thru the stations on TV and came across a USA vs USSR track meet. This big guy creamed the Russians in the 100.Some guy named Hayes.....haha!!! Been hooked ever since!

I share Steve's sentiment but shouldn't Bob Hayes be powerhouse#1. Where would you place Morrow and Calvin Smith?
