This came up last fall when Palin closed her debate with:

It was Ronald Reagan who said that freedom is always just one generation away from extinction. We don’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream; we have to fight for it and protect it, and then hand it to them so that they shall do the same, or we’re going to find ourselves spending our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children about a time in America, back in the day, when men and women were free.

    Reagan was talking about Medicare.

Everything Ronald Reagan touched has been permanently damaged. Perhaps the biggest reason the State of California is broke can be traced back to his influence when he was the governor. I used to live near the guy in Malibu Lake. I used to fantasize about running him over in my car on the way to work.

I wonder how many of the problems with the financial system that have brought our nation to where it is today can be traced back to the policies of the Reagan administration.

The biggest reason the state of California is broke is because Pogo was right about who the enemy was: given an easy out (and the law of unintended consequences), Californians have Prop-13ed themselves into the overall poorhouse.

Garrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry you are 100000000000000000 percent correct.

I left California in 1999 and have never regretted it.

Prop 13 took the quality of life right out of the state.
