Thought this was interesting: I stumbled across a discovery channel message board, and saw an interesting argument. The debate was, who would win in a fight between a Gorilla and a Leopard. So i pose the question to the Track and Field world with our limited knowledge of such things. Who WOULD win? I have to take the Gorilla. Immense strength, powerful jaws, and hand that can grab and hold gives the Gorilla the edge over any Land predator in my opinion. Assuming they square up of course. If a Big cat snuck up on a Gorilla from a Tree or something, may hvae a different outcome.

There is a whole show dedicated to this question where they do total analysis' of the fighting and forces of each animal then put it into a computer to pick the outcome. Some interesting results come out, like the walrus beating the polar bear.
In this case, it would depend upon the first strike of the ape. If it can crush the spine or skull immediately, it wins, otherwise the cat has the edge in most cases.

gorilla are actually sensitive creatures & only ever fight as a last resort
they are also pretty cowardly & posture/beat their chest/shout a lot, but rarely fight anyone else but another gorilla
if you want to talk about big monkeys, you better look at our ole friend gigantopithecus:
big motherf*cker monkey

This article claims a Gorilla is 10-27 times stronger than man, stating "Gorillas are stronger than they look, having significantly more muscle mass than a human pound for pound." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gorilla). Given that, lets say the average man can benchpress 90% of his body weight. (yes, I know alot of us hear are current or former athletes, so 90% of our body weight is weak, but I am referring to the average joe) Given that, a 200 lbs man would be able to bench 180 lbs. If the average male Gorilla weighs 400 lbs, and is 18.5 times stronger than a man (the avergae of 10 and 27) then he would be able to bench 6660 lbs. That seems like more than enough strength to deal with a 700 lbs cat. Both animals have jaws, but only the gorilla can grab and punch.

PS: This is almost as bad as the "Who would win: Hayes versus Greene" threads!

is that with a suit and or belt and who the hell is spotting if he gets in trouble? uh uh? you didnt think of that did ya? :x
(in reality he can only get 5000, and that's with bouncing it off his chest and the spotters' arms straining as HE is lifting it)
