Link also mentions that Pryor had been suffering from multiple sclerosis for almost 20 years.

RIP but he's lucky he didn't die 25 years ago. MS was the least of his problems.

Sure, MS was the least of his problems... but it was Pryor's problems that created the humor. He was one of the rare breed of comedians who gave the impression (apparently accurate) that he was always just on the edge of the border that separates us all from insanity. Others who come to mind are Jonathan Winters, Ernie Kovacs, Andy Kaufman, Robin Williams, Molly Shannon and Sarah Silverman. All of them, at times, seem to slip over the edge and some have been institutionalized, but, damn, they can be funny.
Pryor, in his prime, was the most troubled and also the best of them.

                1) The Mafia Club stickup still bugs me out to this day. He goes in there, announces the stick up, and the Club owner starts laughing.........
Then, the Club owner sits Rich down to let him know what he just did and to whom he did it to........!!!!!

Hey, Richie, you want some scungilli???? Fry it up, they like fried foods!!!!!

                2) "Can you believe a $1.50 worth of cocaine"????????

First time I ever heard (probably heard of) Richard Pryor was when a black friend invited me over for a soirée at his house in the early '70s. I was the only paleface there and they put on this Richard Pryor album, and within 30 seconds he's doing "nigger this, nigger that...." and all the guys are howling.

And it was majorly funny stuff, but I was so conflicted about laughing at racial material that I just sat there and bit my tongue, trying not even to smile. But I had to give up after about 2 minutes and I was rolling on the floor with them.

it still is the funniest story/gag that i have ever heard !

It's been said that white supremists even gave him props! If Rich can do that to them, you know what he could do to Gary Hill!!!!!!
