Kinda surprised this guy hasn't been mentioned on the boards yet. Jumbo-sized guy decides to lose weight by walking from San Diego to New York. He started in April and is now in Springfield, MO, about 1,650 from San Diego. Keeps an online journal at www.thefatmanwalking.com . I check in about once a month. He is not setting any records, but he keeps plugging away.

I've been following the guy since summer. Didn't think he'd make it past Flagstaff. The guy deserves a lot of credit for hanging in there. Being an ex-Marine probably has helped condition him.
The guy doesn't update his journal more than weekly. Also, he's got a documentary crew following him. Sometimes he seems obsessed with winning the Sundance Film Festival for "best documentary" and striking it big financially eventually. -
