mojo does not exaggerate the ferry fare.. I made that Vancouver/Victoria ferry round trip summer of 2004 ( I think it was) my recollection is it was about US$70, Cad$105, at the time.... but .. whattayagonnado.. you can't back up.. Victoria/Vancouver Island is worth it once but I wouldn't want to do it for weekly grocery shopping
I make the trip many times a year- hope you had nice weather for your trip- it can be beautiful and if you are really lucky you might see whales. 8)
Chain: Whole Foods. Hard to believe that this den of left-wing organic, natural foods is based in Texas.
Not if you know anything about Austin. The running joke in Texas (derisive or self-effacing, depending on who says it) is to call us The People's Republic of Austin.
Also, calling them "left-wing" requires quite a bit of qualification. They are noted for being aggressively anti-union (although they also win national awards for being a great place to work). And believe me, if you have followed their growth, you know that they are very aggressively capitalist.
And I don't know that believing in organics is necessarily lefty (although the cause certainly gets its greatest promotion from the left). My father is a conservative businessman but also possibly even more rabidly pro-organic than me.

Well, if you saw the crew at the one I shop at in Berkeley, you'd be trying to figure how many thousands of miles you would have to go towards the right to even find a middle of the roader. In any event, it was a bit of a surprise to find out where they were from - it seems a much more CA kind of concept.
