I have yet to visit my local grocer or box store since the insanity began, I simply refuse to be swept into hysteria by this present manic zeitgeist.

I find the 4 CDC rules, promulgated on this fantastic forum worth more than 100 boxes of toilet paper : 1) wash hands often 2) dont put hands in face 3) avoid crowds 4) maintain proper distance during conversations. And these are rules I should have followed every flu season, thank you CV19, I owe you so much!

Chocolate. I'm surprised people aren't hoarding chocolate.

People are still...to me overly....concerned about something termed as "total lockdown". In other words you can't leave your home and/or the stores will be shut down. I don't think that is or will be the case. Thus, while there be little reason to be outside and thus most will stay in their homes or on their property, basic needs will still be available. Until the masses get comfortable with that, we'll see hoarding.

I have enough chocolate and Brach's jelly beans to get me through about August of 2021. However that's not me hoarding. That's the supply I typically have.

The problem now is that is you do NOT join the hoarding mentality, you may well be without critical necessities because everyone else took them.
If I see something I know I will need in the next month, I buy it. You can't do what many of us do normally: go get it as you run out of it. It won't be there.

I am a bit of a CocaCola addict, but 3 years ago I gave up drinking them at home. But at any and all restaurants it was a definite treat.

Now, with no restaurants, I just bought a bunch to pamper myself at home.

Bourbon for me. Gin for my wife.

I shopped for my 83yo father this morning. I was originally going to Instacart it but that seemed iffy. We have the biggest Kroger in the Atlanta metro area in our neighborhood. I was able to get everything he wanted and needed except toilet paper. There were aisles that were pretty picked over. I got the last package of paper napkins. I found toilet paper at a pharmacy close to his residence. It is really strange to not be allowed inside of the building where your parent lives. 100% the right thing but quite surreal.

Which begs the question....will the Easter Bunny still come?

Diet Dr Thunder or Diet Coke, were mentioned in classical Greek times, they are modern translations of the Greek word: Elixir. I generally have two 2L bottles of one or the other!

Why can't I find ramen noodles? I don't think any store in Houston have any left.

My kids eat an obscene amount of Nutella. I discovered a few years ago that a local chain that aims to supply restaurants carries 6.6lb buckets of Nutella. We save a fortune by buying these.

I normally only buy one at a time, but we bought two not too long ago, and when I was stocking up a few weeks ago, I stopped by this store and ended up buying one more. Now I am very glad I did, as I have no plans to return to the mainland anytime soon.

We are currently near the end of the first bucket, two more to go.

My son has been eating Reese's Peanut Butter Puffs for breakfast. Local store doesn't carry them. Went on Amazon and got four boxes, the price per box was less than I typically pay at a normal grocery store on the mainland, go figure!

I mean otherwise I normally shop like a prepper anyway. Groceries on-island are expensive. When I was doing my final stock up on the mainland, the bread we like was on sale for $1.88 per loaf (normally $5.29 here and ~$2.50 or so on the mainland) so I bought four loaves. In hindsight I should have bought more. Sliced bread freezes well.

I read a story yesterday that Georgia Pacific and other toilet paper and paper towel manufacturers are now bypassing distributors and sending delivery trucks straight to the stores to meet the demand of the hoarders.

I've got lots of toilet paper in the house, but I thought it might be a good idea to buy more online. We usually buy Charmin, but that's not currently available on Amazon.
