My preferred grocery store opens at 08:00; I got there at 08:05, figuring I'd beat the rush, but the parking lot looked about half full

they have a greeter at the door who tells you no more than 50 in the store at one time (it wasn’t there yet) and that you’re only allowed to buy 2 of anything.

just about everybody filling baskets to overflowing

deli, meat and produce departments looked just like normal

as expected paper goods almost non-existent

      no stick butter

      no sandwich bread

when you go to check out, they have the floor marked with tape on how far apart they want you to stand

        Meanwhile....just now...

Visited a Costco this morning, where most shelves were empty on the weekend... Trust the food supply chain.

One thing that will be very interesting to watch is how food from the restaurant food supply chain makes it into the grocery food supply chain. They are not the same thing and restaurants are cutting way back on ordering since their business has dropped so much.

I had to go to the RMV rmv.ma this morning, got there before the door opened and there was a line almost 1/2 a furlong in length snaking around the building. I didnt even get out of my vehicle, I just about faced in the parking lot and went on my way to the next chore on my list. Oh the insanity.

So then, needing to pick up a few items of general purpose I decide to go to the local CVS instead of the Walmart. I figured it would be less congested in their with a "better" clientele .. well it just was, I still love Walmart but I just couldnt bear to go in and see the walruses hoarding milk, donuts and bathroom tissues!

People are taking the hysteria to an extreme, friends, whatever the mob does, do the opposite. You will feel so much better.

OK, I wanted to post a photo here but the last couple of years when I've done that using Photobucket, if someone clicked on the photo here, they had access to my entire Photobucket bucket of photos, even thought the bucket is set at Private. Anyone know how to prevent that? Or a better way to post photos here?

Start a Twitter account...post a photo there and copy and post here. That's what I do for all the photos I post.

Just used my Facebook instead. Not sure that worked several years ago. Thanks.

I'll pick up a bunch of other stuff but for the most part we could go a few weeks without shopping if needed.
So this morning I went to my local Whole Foods wannabee (Market of Choice - a fine small chain). Turns out my favorite peanut butter, veggie juice and pasta sauce were cleared out, as were all canned soups and beans (except kidney - no respect!), almost all bread, most of the meat market, paper and cleaning products. The Rite-Aid next door didn't help. Not much of a shopper and can live for weeks without going out again.

Went to a local country bakery and stocked up on bread and our farmer friends for eggs - we're set.

The problem with that is that fresh bread goes stale really quickly (even refrigerated/frozen), so it's hard to buy and save.
The hoagie rolls I buy are so pumped up with preservatives, they las a month (which I why I can't die, of course).

We now have to wear surgical masks all day in the office, not to protect us from potentially ill patients (that requires an N95 mask) but to protect patients (and the rest of our office staff) for one of us if we were to have an asymptomatic infection. Anyway, we can pull it off to eat, but having it there seems to prevent grazing so a bit of an enforced diet.
