    • Ahhhhh.. looking forward to a relaxing Christmas. My usual routine involves a 600-mile circuit to make three stops, one on Christmas Eve, one Christmas morning, and one Christmas afternoon/evening, with a meal at each stop. My established/expected gift has been an appropriate book for the two dozen or so people on my list. Everyone just agreed to stay home this year. I have already dispatched or arranged for a local someone who will be visiting each site to deliver my books and collect any presents I may receive.

Coping with the lockdown certainly includes taking lots of on-line quizzes. Now I know exactly which Disney Princess I am, courtesy of Buzzfeed.

        • A person who went to work while sick is likely the cause of two separate Covid-19 outbreaks in Oregon

Officials in Oregon say a "superspreader action" is likely behind two recent Covid-19 outbreaks in the state.

              • Florida Guv just moved 65 and over into Tier B for vaccinations. How its going to be administered is still unknown. The Pharmacies could do it with Moderna, easier to store, but the thought of millions of Floridians lining up scares me. And I hope they don't do it Alphabetically as my last name starts with a W

But the irony is D-lish. Get Covid while standing in line to NOT get Covid.
I shan't be one of them. We'll wait our turn individually.

                    • Douglas County tends to think anything Lane County does is to be avoided. Needless to say Lane County takes Covid-19 seriously.....

A few months ago I was in the checkoutline at Market of Choice near campus and the clerk and a customer, both from Douglas County and living in Eugene, were going on about how awful Lane County was. I thought it was rather comical.

I find it a tad interesting that Lane County geographically separates Lincoln County from Douglas County . . .

The coronavirus killed far fewer people in Africa than in Europe and the Americas, leading to a widespread perception that it was a disease of the West. Now, a tide of new cases on the continent is raising alarms.

"doctors are convinced that deaths have also gone uncounted. Dr. John Black, the only infectious-disease specialist for adults in Port Elizabeth, said he and other physicians feared that many people were dying at home. Indeed, a government analysis showed that there had been more than twice as many excess deaths as could be explained by confirmed cases in South Africa. “We don’t know what the real number is,” he said."
I'm sure this is the case in most under developed countries. Not to mention India which is a developed country perched on top of an undeveloped one. Only 20% of deaths given a medical diagnosis.
Still the lack of a large death toll in Africa is a puzzlement. Could it be the youth factor? Average age 19.7? Life span 62.
