  • When I'm distracted (walking around a store), I'm fine with the mask. But as soon as I get in the car, I'm gasping for air and have to get it off. Mini-situational-claustrophobia?

    • When I hear people talk about how bad masks are for your health, I wonder why there have not more studies published on surgeons dying from the health risks of wearing a mask. I wore a surgical mask 8-10 hours/day 3-4 days/week for 32 years or so, and may not have enjoyed having it on, but never had any problems breathing with it on, and I never heard a fellow surgeon voice those complaints.

        • The open NZ-Australia border of no testing, no quarantine lasted 5 days.

Last night West Australia went into a 3 day lockdown after a case of community spread.

          • I've got a theory...that we aren't going to help India because their neighbor China isn't doing anything. And Chinese won't do what's helpful even though they may have caused this on purpose (who knows really). If India continues to get worse I don't see how US can continue to refuse help. Of course I believe we should be looking out for our own interests presently but only the stupid or slothful haven't got anything accomplished yet with vaccine here. We should be done by July 4.

As for Canada I would think we could really get them out of their mess in short order if we threw them a lifeline. I listen to Canadian media and they really seem bogged down by this. If Biden really didn't worry about critics saying we aren't done in US, I think he could pull their 35mil out of this quickly. We should be helping the Great White North.

This seemed like the week CVS went from "fully booked" to almost wide open. If you want a shot from the two stores in my hood you can sched. one within a few days. I have the feeling they are waiting for requests.

Do We Still Need to Keep Wearing Masks Outdoors?
Science shows that the risk of viral transmission outside is very low. The “two-out-of-three rule” can help you decide whether to mask up.

I never wore a mask outdoors, simply because I was never close enough to anyone.

That's pretty much my routine too. The only difference in my habits since I've been vaccinated is that I don't wear the 3M KN95's anymore, just the blue surgical masks out of respect for others. I don't understand folks who see masks as an affront on their freedom and dignity.

                    • The past few weekends my wife and I have started to venture out more than trips to the store. Hard Rock Casino with in-laws last weekend. Everyone in the place.....the overwhelming majority of whom had to be 70 plus...wore a mask. We also went out to a local restaurant this past weekend. Masks to table and then un mask. It was great to get out.

My only problem with the mask is it fogs up my reading glasses when recording outdoor track meets.

Adhesive tape over the top of the mask and onto the bridge of your nose and each adjacent side is what we used in surgery to prevent that. You can also get anti-fog stuff to put on your glasses but the tape works fine.
