And Pedant Alert: it's bippy, not bippie.

    Thanks, Klingon!

California forces auto insurers to refund policyholders, but doesn’t specify how much

The requirement, mandated by the state commissioner, comes as a new study shows car crashes are down 50% across the state

Some insurance companies (eg. USAA, Allstate, etc.) have been proactive in doing this.

I have been with USAA for 67 years, just received notice of premium rebate but did not say how much/when/how.

Beer and wine can be sold in supermarkets in Pennsylvania.

Hard liquor can only be sold in State-owned liquor stores. So hard liquor is apparently not considered essential in Pennsylvania.

That's Oregon...but the state owned liquor stores are open here.

Also have USAA. Here's what's on their website: "Every member with an auto insurance policy in effect as of March 31, 2020, will receive a 20% credit on two months of premiums in the coming weeks." While that's a total of $520 million it's not a lot per individual. About $80 for me (3 cars). But I do like the insurance.

While there may be less drunk driving, it seems to me that people are driving faster with less traffic and still watching their phone instead of the road. I'm usually one of the fastest on the road and now I'm one of the slowest and coming home from the grocery store the other morning I had 3 separate cars cross the line coming towards me due to inattention. Pretty sure they weren't drunk (it was 10am), but weren't watching where they were going either.

My friend works in a liquor store in Oregon. I asked him what the biggest sellers were and he said mostly the 1.5L bottles of cheap hard liquor. Not the good stuff. We still have some drive through liquor stores in Georgia. Sometimes the lines rival Chick-fil-A. Also noticed at our farmers market, the lines are for Chicken, but no line for beef, pork, lamb.
