The college junior would take six rapid tests before the holiday, all of which returned negative results. But it would become clear only later — after he had spent time with his grandmother — that he had been infected the whole time. Several days after gathering for Christmas, he got a positive result back from the first available lab-based PCR test he was able to book.
The promise of at-home tests to tell people whether they are infectious has been undercut by preliminary data that suggests some of the rapid tests may be less sensitive to the now-dominant omicron variant. Studies suggest they detect infections most reliably two to five days after exposure in people with high viral loads who are experiencing symptoms, which is why people are urged to take the tests serially. But even then, they are not foolproof.
The good news, researchers say, is that two newly authorized rapid tests coming to market as soon as this month work well in detecting omicron. The FDA issued emergency-use authorizations for the tests by Roche and Siemens Healthineers in late December.

Florida health official placed on leave after encouraging employees to get vaccinated
https://news.yahoo.com/florida-healt...154957032.html
Raul Pino, director of the Florida Department of Health in Orange County, sent an email to employees earlier this month that was critical of the agency's vaccination rate. Pino, a leading figure in the public response to the pandemic in the Orlando area, noted that only 77 of the 568 staffers had received booster shots and 219 employees had gotten two doses of coronavirus vaccines, according to WFTV, which first reported the story.

I think the natural immunity thing is more nuanced than "its no good" or "its great'.

That's quite a statement. "On the whole" is a far cry from a whole lot of differing conclusions obtained within a time period of 2 or 3 months.

Life, death and 'hugs and prayers': A story of covid in rural Michigan
https://www.yahoo.com/news/life-deat...231905488.html
On a recent Saturday morning outside Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Mich., Janice Burtch sat in a car holding a can of Diet Coke in one hand, a pack of Marlboros in the other. Snow was falling, the blacktop was wet, and she had just watched her husband of 29 years take his last breath.
Unlike Janice, who was fully vaccinated and boosted, Danny had refused to get the shot, something his wife attributes to a long-standing distrust in government and a heavy diet of Fox News.

The main problem with natural immunity is the inconsistency. The dose of the vaccine can be consistent and controlled, but the dose of the virus can't.
