I can't resist commenting. I don't have unwavering trust in our current government, have a heavy diet of Fox News, and am fully vaccinated. I do not recall ever hearing an anti-vax proponent on FN.

    • Now the 6 children have to suffer because of their mother's ignorant decision.

PASADENA, Texas (KTRK) - A Texas family is mourning the loss of a 27-year-old mother of six young children. She died after battling COVID-19 and pneumonia related to the virus.
      ...

After New Year’s Day, the couple tested positive for COVID-19, and days later, Crystal Hernandez was admitted to the hospital. She was 24 weeks pregnant at the time.

Rico Hernandez says he and his wife were not vaccinated due to their beliefs.

Tucker Carlson is worth a thousand of them.

“The point of mandatory vaccination is to identify the sincere Christians in the ranks, the freethinkers, the men with high testosterone levels, and anyone else who does not love Joe Biden and make them leave immediately,” Carlson claimed. “It’s a takeover of the U.S. military.”

Jesus, the Hulk on HGH. That part about washing feet has to be fake news. And with that level of testosterone? - I can't fathom the temptations that don't appear in the scriptural accounts of those 40 days in the desert with Tucker.

New research from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and health officials in California and New York indicates that a prior case of Covid-19 protected people from infection better than vaccinations did during the delta wave last summer and fall.
In case you think I am putting this out because I am anti-vax. Nope. Had two moderna shots, breakthrough infection then booster.

One always needs to read the fine print:

"The findings in this report are subject to at least seven limitations....

            including:

this analysis did not ascertain receipt of additional or booster COVID-19 vaccine doses and was conducted before many persons were eligible or had received additional or booster vaccine doses, which have been shown to confer additional protection....."

That's why I go to the study because your average journalist is skimming the surface looking for the most sensational juicy bits.

              • If you received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, new research shows you are better off switching brands for your booster.

The Duke study comes one month after the CDC flat out recommended the two mRNA vaccines over the J&J shot.

Nearly a half million people in North Carolina have gotten vaccinated with the single-dose J&J shot.

But new research from Duke University shows J&J recipients who mix their vaccines – and get boosted with Pfizer or Moderna instead of a second J&J shot – have 10 times the level of antibodies against omicron.

CDC released a statement on the findings, noting important caveats -- namely that the analysis was conducted prior to the spread of Omicron and before widespread implementation of booster doses, and also that the data set did not include information on severity of initial infection among those who were previously infected.

They cited a recent study that found that "with increasing time since prior infection, vaccination provides greater protection against COVID-19."

                      *Conclusions

Both previous infection and vaccination provide substantial protection against COVID-19.

The first limitation noted in the discussion - there are 7 , is this:

"The findings in this report are subject to at least seven limitations. First, analyses were not stratified by time since vaccine receipt, but only by time since previous diagnosis, although earlier studies have examined waning of vaccine-induced immunity"

In other words, they can't be certain how many unvaccinated people with antibodies from a recent infection were being compared to vaccinated people with waning immunity. Nor did I see anything stating that unvaccinated people with prior infection were tested for antibodies. Given that another study found 36% of people who got Covid had no antibodies, you'd think they might have taken that into consideration, although the authors may have concluded that other study was not reliable - that I don't know.

People love to read what the mainstream media hypes, but they're not accustomed to digging in and looking beneath the surface. The lack of intellectual discipline on the part of journalists and readers is the only thing worth weeping and gnashing of teeth. If you're intellectually slothful, you'll remain uselessly uninformed.

Note also how the NBC headline twists this from the study conclusion: "Thus, vaccination remains the safest and primary strategy to prevent SARS-CoV-2 infections, associated complications, and onward transmission." They reduced that to "vaccines safest to prevent dire illness."

                        What a badly educated society.

                        • Unvaccinated adults age 65 or older who contracted the coronavirus were 49 times more likely to require hospitalization than seniors who had received booster vaccine doses, according to new data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Unimmunized adults in that age group were also 17 times more likely to be admitted to a hospital than those who had received either two shots of an mRNA vaccine or one Johnson & Johnson dose. Meanwhile, unvaccinated people between 50 and 64 years old were 44 times more likely to need hospitalization compared with their boosted counterparts.

I was a huge fan of Stockton's when I was in Utah, one of the top 3 point guards of all time, and I remain a huge fan....of his athletic abilities. As a thinker...Oy Vey! Athletes and Actors, and Celebs should stick to their metier.
