  • Just got back from the Doctor's visit. They took temperature at front door. Small waiting room, 14 chairs, but just 3 of us. Then 2 more came in, and another 2. An old couple then came in. He was initially wearing a mask, but then took it off, sitting 6-7 feet in front of me. Then he coughed into his sleeve, then a few minutes later he coughed again. No sleeve.O.K. I said to self: "One more cough and I'm standing in the hallway." No more coughs. Dr. talked to me without mask on, but put it on to do stethoscope. Next up my proctologist. I bet there is one test he ain't doing! And I'm not letting him either.

Man makes money buying his own pizza on DoorDash app

The owner of a pizza restaurant in the US has discovered the DoorDash delivery app has been selling his food cheaper than he does - while still paying him full price for orders.

A pizza for which he charged $24 (£20) was being advertised for $16 on DoorDash - and when he secretly ordered it himself, the app paid his restaurant the full $24 while charging him $16.

He had not asked to be put on the app.

DoorDash is backed by investment giant Softbank, which this week posted a record-breaking loss of nearly $13bn. Defending the loss, chief executive Masayoshi Son reportedly compared himself to Jesus.
The billionaire is said to have stated during a call with investors that Jesus was "also misunderstood".

        He later apologised.

We've been wearing masks in the office for eight weeks now, 100% of the time in the exam rooms and if we're talking to someone else in the hallway or an office, maybe taking it off when alone in an office dictating or reviewing test results.

A Brief Chat With a Guy Who Drinks 25 Cups of Coffee Per Day

So that’s 25 cups a day for 15 years. Would you consider yourself a coffee expert?

I’m not really a coffee connoisseur. I’m very promiscuous in my coffee choices. I’m more of a coffee whore. I try a lot of coffee. I go from big brands to hip little places. But there’s nothing better than finding a great coffee that is cheap as dirt.

How do you take your coffee?
I used to take it with cream and sugar. But when I was in my late 20s, I met an old English woman who was in her 90s. We were both in the same small writing critique group. She lived through the Blitz! She was the most formidable person I’ve ever met. She told me that putting sugar in coffee is a sign of “weak moral character.” She had an effect on me. I haven’t had it with cream and sugar since. Now it’s just cream. I prefer a dark roast, or if I’m out I order an Americano.

Plus I don't think the virus can survive down there anyway. Right?

              • The SF Chron revisited the 2011 flic Contagion this morning and they cited the prophetic last paragraph of the review the paper printed back then:

<<You may never gain be able to touch your face without asking yourself where those hands have been. In fact, yesterday might have been a good time to buy stock in Purell.>>

                • Next up. The Gym. Opens Monday. Will explore. They're shutting down Pool and Basketball Courts, and spreading out the equipment. Video asked everyone to bring their own towel. Time was when I was the ONLY one with a towel, and one of the 15% who wiped down his equipment (no that is not a double entendre, I wouldn't know where to find that equipment to wipe down...but I digress) and who started social distancing mid February.

That's kind of silly, IMO. The pool is likely much safer than the gym vis a vis CV19.

                      • Back in the day I worked for a company with a nice in-house gym - I used it every day or three for a couple of decades. When I retired, not wanting to pay gym fees or spend time hanging out in indoor gyms, I figured out how to do my gym workout in the great outdoors by taking bike rides/hikes, then use a small satchel full of elastic bands and various small physical therapy devices to work out pretty much anywhere I am - out in the woods, on the beach, in the barn, wherever. The thought of working out indoors has not appealed for quite some time and the current virus slams that door tightly shut.

Over the past few years I've added quite a bit of gardening/yardwork to the mix. Went from an urban dweller to the owner of five acres so there's a bit more outdoor work to do, almost all of which is a great workout . . .

                          • Hertz is going to file for Chapter 11

The 102-year-old rental car company's future is uncertain with no return to normal travel on the horizon.

                            • more on Hertz (cheap cars coming up?)

                              • Hertz use to sell their used cars after only a year use for big discounts....my parents bought a Taurus with 15,000 for half the regular price and it was in great shape....the auto companies weren't too keen so I think they cut back.

Moreover, the sales to the rental fleets have become so competitive that auto makers must agree to buy back the vehicles at a set price. Indeed, Chrysler said the recent steep drop in its share of the automotive market was partly because of its deliberate reduction of sales to fleets.

Referring to the sales of cars to rental fleets, Mr. Iacocca told the National Automobile Dealers Association Convention in February that there were ''too many buybacks, pouring too many low-mileage current model cars through the distribution system at prices that undercut new cars and destroy resale values.''
