“They had done all sorts of things to remove the potential for spread,” Richardson told reporters. “Unfortunately, gyms are a higher-risk place because of the fact that generally people are taking off their masks, they’re breathing at a higher rate.”

Spin studios tend to be tightly confined rooms, unlike the large open areas with weights and cardio machines in the typical gym.

    • Who on earth thought it was a good idea to allow heavy-duty exercising in an enclosed space without masks? Unbelievable.

I will most certainly not, though I am anxious to get back into A gym. That'll have to wait.

          • 7 days on his back in ICU apparently has Chris Christie re-thinking a few things.

            "Wear a Mask!"

"As a former public official, I believe we have not treated Americans as adults, who understand truth, sacrifice and responsibility," Christie said in a statement.

I was told Canadians are much smarter than Floridians, though.

I've found stupidity to be a universal across the globe.
                Wisdom and kindness also.

I've been going for a month now. My achilles heel stopped me from walking. I go at down times. Opening time on weekends and lunch other times. It's a big box (L.A. Fitness) Gym, Do cardio up stairs with a max of 8 others spread out over 1500 square feet, all facing away from me. Without a mask since it affects my breathing. Downstairs I wear a mask ,I am in the 99%ile, never more than 40 people spread out over 3,000 square feet. So far so good. They've cancelled spin classes and yoga and Basketball. I am leery of the A/C, but the ceiling is up 2 stories.

A new report highlights the particular risk of indoor sporting events for spreading COVID-19.

He might be the last person in New Jersey to discover this. Considering some of the morons I've seen from NJ on TV (Jersey Shore), that's saying a lot.

actually, the young should wear a mask for the sake of the old. They are at near zero risk from cv19.

Sort of my plan also - I get up very early (usually 3-4 AM) so plan to go to the gym as soon as I get up when we get back to Hilton Head. I'm sure it will be pretty empty at that time and I will wear a mask.

My favorite Jersey person moment ever came when my wife and I were driving north to our New Hampshire home from North Carolina. We stopped at a rest area on the Jersey Pike and I got in line at a food counter while she went to the rest room. In front of me were 3 obvious Jersey Girls talking. One of them said to the others, "Hey, remember when Joey shot and killed that guy? Can you believe they arrested him for that?"
