Sonoma County has had 160 total deaths, and 81% were residents of nursing homes or residential care units (assisted living). Believe they also accounted for high percentages of deaths in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Washington.

Today I read something like 40% of deaths and 6% of cases across the U.S.. So a hugely disproportionate impact.

      • Vaccine Distribution. I'm near the back of the line, where I should be, behind 268.7 million Americans.

          ...
but the good news is that once you factor in the anti-vaxxers, you'll be behind only perhaps 100M!

I was just doing that math. Last I saw polls showed only 58% of Americans said they would get the vaccine. Even if I'm last that puts me roughly at 191 million.

I’d love to see a requirement that everyone show proof of vaccinations before using public transportation or getting healthcare.

              • If I goose my blood sugar a bit (should be doable!) I'd be diabetic and therefore behind only 23 million. As it is now I'm standing next to bhall . . .

That shouldn't be surprising. Fewer than 50% of adults receive the influenza vaccination each year in the US.

                  • It just said on the news that I (>65) would see a vaccine in January, after the Dec people (health, first responders, nursing homes) are done.
I will be in the front of the line.
But it'll still be summer before the mask/social-distancing mandates can be relaxed.

                      • NBA won't do random testing for marijuana this season

The NBA and the National Basketball Players Association have agreed not to conduct randomized tests for marijuana during the 2020-21 season after following a similar policy in the league's bubble to finish last season.

                        • Santa Clara County (me) has jumped ahead of the California's projected state SIP mandate and will effect one starting Sunday night. No more restaurant dining, indoors or out.

It's hard to sustain a business model depending on Uber Eats!
That said, perhaps draconian measures will only be needed for a few months, pending the vaccine roll-out.

Because we still do so much outside in the winter, I'd think the Deep South has an advantage.
