One of the interesting impacts of our COVID-19 mitigation efforts is what is happening with flu season. This is from a newsletter I get.

Had an Ambulance take me to ER on Wednesday. Don't worry just a bit of Bradycardia (slow heart beat) and "she who must be obeyed" and the EMT's over ruled me. Anyway the EMT's looked and sounded like Darth Vader and because I'm hard of hearing one of them pulled his mask aside to talk. Neighbors who I'd never talked to before came running, and I suspect it was "fear" of Covid. My next door neighbor gave me a wise piece of medical advice. "When your heart goes it's all over."

Florida over 20k deaths and desperately trying to catch up to Texas which left us in the dust, and California which we're dogging. Given the fact that our gov. has done little to slow things and California's has I predict we'll pass them by Xmas, and then zoom.

Let me try to put skepticism about the COVID vaccine to rest. I participated in the Pfizer trial and I’m sure I was in the study group based on the minor side effects that I had following my injection. I’m fine and fear of the shot is unwarranted. Get the shot when it you can.

The wedding photographer had already spent an hour or two inside with the unmasked wedding party when one of the bridesmaids approached her. The woman thanked her for still showing up, considering “everything that’s going on with the groom.”
When the photographer asked what she meant by that, the bridesmaid said the groom had tested positive for the coronavirus the day before. “She was looking for me to be like, ‘Oh, that’s crazy,’ like I was going to agree with her that it was fine,” the photographer recalls. “So I was like, ‘What are you talking about?’ And she was like, ‘Oh no no no, don’t freak out. He doesn’t have symptoms. He’s fine.’”

Well, I'm getting my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine Friday 6:30am, the second dose on January 8th. In Colorado, among healthcare workers, 1A is frontline workers (ER, ICU, and other hospital-based) and staff at nursing homes. 1B includes all other healthcare workers with patient contact, like us in our outpatient clinic. But UCHealth, my employer, is offering the vaccine to some 1B workers, in a random manner, and I got the invitation email this morning. UCHealth has about 7000 1A workers, 20,000 1B, and 8000 group 2 (no patient contact) statewide.
