Costas is obviously a big sports fan but has a sense of what is important.

The Olympics are supposed to be on now. And hardly anyone noticed they are not. The psychological void is mainly from overpaid college football coaches...
Or as Sean Doolittle said, "Sports the reward for a functioning society."

    • More from MLB - they are adjusting the schedule on the fly. With the Marlins/Orioles and Phillies/Yankee games postponed on Wednesday & Thursday, there will be Yankee/Orioles games instead.

      • Talked to my Dad last evening. He loves college hoops, college football, grand slam tennis. He, surprisingly, watches PGA non-majors golf (as well as the majors). He said he tried watching golf last weekend and just didn't care. I asked if it would be different if it was a major with a big gallery and he agreed that might be. It's like trying to force the square peg in the round hole these days with sports. Also, even if I'm not watching with intent, it's just nice to have college football on the TV on a fall day while puttering around the house, cooking, stretching after a run etc, It's part of the fall landscape, like the trees changing colors.

Once things get really desperate maybe the Red Sox can play the Nuggets and the Dodgers can play the Avalanche.....

Governor Cuomo just announced that if MLB needs to go to a bubble, NY is willing.

Probably a little late for that to work....

Plus, 'bubble' seems to imply a security seal that can't possibly exist.

NBA and NHL have bubbles that so far are working....but they haven't played yet...so who knows....but they planned this weeks ago. Baseball should just quit ...

                  • And one of the Bears top players is sitting out....if more go the season becomes a joke....

Bears nose tackle Eddie Goldman reportedly opts out of the 2020 season over COVID-19 concerns

Nose tackle Eddie Goldman, the linchpin of the run defense, will opt out of the 2020 season, according to NFL Network.

Goldman, a second-round pick in 2015 who signed a four-year, $42 million contract extension two summers ago, has been an elite player in the middle of the defense. His absence would create a void in the middle of the line and lead to more significant roles for Bilal Nichols and others.

The list of NFL players choosing to sit out the season over COVID-19 concerns is growing. ESPN reported that linebacker Dont’a Hightower and safety Patrick Chung are the fifth and sixth New England Patriots players to exercise that option.

Rumor that the Marlins players visited a strip club during their Atlanta visit as well.

                      • Good news and bad news in NJ:

The good news is that they have been able to hold a “Last Dance” 32-team baseball tournament aimed especially at graduating seniors. It is not HS sanctioned but basically high school teams under club names. Only two teams had to drop out due to the virus and they are down to a final four. Also, in Bergen County, a similar girl’s softball tournament is playing.

The bad news is that the NJ Athletic Conference which includes ten NCAA Division III schools (our former “teachers” colleges) just cancelled the fall sports season.

                        • CIF Southern Section (controlling body for most of southern California high school athletics) has pushed all three sports seasons into 2021 for abbreviated seasons. Multi-sport kids may have some difficult choices to make. Team preparations will be problematic, especially for football (practice over winter holiday break?)
We can also expect a flood of transfers among elite footballers and hoop stars with an additional four months to decide where to maximize their chances for exposure/success.

Maybe they can appear on PA ads and ask people to wear masks so that they could have a football season.
People who don't take advice from medical experts might listen to football coaches.

                            • By the way, the Rutgers football team has had an outbreak with 15 positive cases.
