  • I’ve heard something like 40,000 or 50,000 total, don’t know if that’s just the grandstands or if they’re going to open the infield this year. They usually get 140,000-160,000+.

      • The latest in NYC is that the Mets and Yankees are going to have vaccinated and non-vaccinated sections in their stadiums. The sections with vaccinated fans will have 100% capacity. The sections with non-vaccinated fans will have 33.3% capacity.

          Perfect way to go.

          • Better yet, it appears that they're going to give free tickets to the game to those who've been vaccinate.

Will each section have its own concessions and restrooms?

How will fans prove they are vaccinated?

NC pulls off improbable feat of hosting two NCAA soccer tourneys ... at the same time

Without fanfare, and without fans, WakeMed Soccer Park quietly pulled off one of the great athletic achievements in the state’s long history of success. Over the span of two days, using two fields, the Cary soccer mecca was the venue for the entire Sweet 16 of both the men’s and women’s NCAA soccer tournaments.

                  • Meanwhile....

Vladimir Putin scored an amazing 8 goals today to lead his hockey team to a 13-9 victory. Highlights on Russian TV tonight show opponents playing horrible defense on Putin like their life depended on it (which it did).

Many people don't know about Cary, NC but its a city adjacent to Raleigh. Started out as a small suburb in the 1970s and now has about 200,000 people and is one of the larger cities in the state. Great place to live and the community really supports sports, especially their soccer complex. They've hosted many NCAA rounds before and I think a lot of the NWSL games as well.

Good question. Maybe they have to bring their card.

                        • They announced that adults will have to bring proof of vaccination to get into the vaccination sections. Kids will not.

Mexico's coronavirus situation is far worse than Taiwan's. It has recorded about 220,000 deaths and is still counting 2,000 new cases each day.

In contrast Taiwan has had just 2,800 cases and 15 deaths.

I guess Thomas Bach instructed the baseball people to transfer the qualifier to somewhere safer than Japan. Perhaps if the qualifiers are held in the middle of the Chihuahuan Desert that would be pretty safe.
