Now Tuvalu and Nauru are the only countries without confirmed covid cases. (Aside from North Korea and Turkmenistan.)

A small island nation just reported its first case of COVID-19 since the pandemic began

Five hundred and ninety-seven days after the World Health Organization first identified the novel coronavirus as a pandemic, the small island nation of Tonga has confirmed its very first case of COVID-19, NPR reports.

Sweden is currently 54th in deaths / million after as high as #5 last summer. (Finland is 136th and Norway is 146th) In the last seven days, they have done better than both Finland and Sweden.

Deaths in the last 7 days / million.

    Finland 3 (105th)
    Norway 1 (125th)
    Sweden 0.7 (134th)
    (USA is 34th with 24 / million.)

Their "maverick" approach is a thing of the past. More importantly, the share of fully vaccinated people.

    Norway 68.2%
    Finland 67.9%.
    Sweden 67.9%.

Children have had a very low risk from COVID-19 from the start. There are lots of states that don't take vaccines seriously but they also don't wear masks. So lots of luck.

It is not over for those with children who cannot yet be vaccinated. Nor for those we love with immuno-comprimised systems. It is not over for those us suffer and die from break-through cases of the virus. It may be far less common, but it still happens. I continue to wear a mask where needed despite being fully vaccinated; not for me, but for those around me who may not be as fortunate as I have been. I live in a state which continues to deny that the virus is of any significance. It might not be a popular position, but I will wear it to protect each of them, and those with whom they will come in contact.

In a society, it is always best to look out for the welfare of others.

    More 'bad' news....

The concerns about Delta and breathrough infections seem to have been pretty overblown.

Good grief ......we've had a vaccine available for months for everyone that works fantastic.... ever since I got fully vaccinated this thing was over as far as it affected me or any of my fully vaccinated friends and family....the rest is all theater. Sure people test positive but being vaccinated it is at worse like the flu. A friend in England and her 90 year old mother had it recently and both are fine....they are vaccinated.

Give it time. A posting of an article putting a damper on the whole thing is soon to follow.
