  • HS sports this year

CHSAA (Colorado) announced their plan (for now) yesterday. XC is on as a fall sport, along with softball and boys tennis and golf. Other fall sports, including football, moved to a March 1 season start.

If that article is correct, that still leaves 41 states trying to have high school football this fall.

Florida is waffling. We're sked to open practice Aug 24, but lots may change by then.

https://www.ksat.com/sports/2020/08/...-for-covid-19/ No real surprise here. Covid positive test on first day of allowed practice for 1-4a. 5&6 (biggest schools) delayed a month I think.

This seems to get regular updates. Up to 14 with no fall high school football.

Meeting tomorrow to determine our path.
One option - Fall may go to spring, winter stays the same, and spring goes to next (21) fall.
              Then what?!

I've been thinking HS football goes forward even if DeSantis has to line up himself.

North Carolina delays fall sports. Cross Country: Nov. 4 - Jan. 8. Indoor Track cancelled. Outdoor track: Apr. 12 - Jun. 11. Football: Feb. 8 - Apr. 9 (7 games). Some type of playoffs contemplated, evidently with fewer individuals / teams than usual.

NJ announced that if there is a high sports deadon (which would begin on 10/1) that even schools that are only giving remote instruction will be eligible to compete.

Florida says it's ok to start practicin' on Aug 24th but you don't have to....or something such as that....allowing schools and/or districts who feel the need to postpone to do so.

Ohio looking to be full speed ahead for all fall sports. Governor is to give final judgement next Tuesday on "contact" sports(fball, soccer, field hockey). He gave a hint at his daily press conference yesterday when he said only "fans" allowed will be parents. Golf and tennis already underway. XC starts next weekend.
