    • So, the Big Ten (1) doesn't have a built-in bye week, (2) has a 21-day suspension of play for players testing positive and (3) has a shutdown threshold of 5% positivity rate on a team. Hang on to your butts.

      • There is one other thing to do. Pray. Hit your collective knees and pray that this decision doesn’t backfire in ways either great or small. The small: virus outbreaks that cancel games and/or derail a season—and given the low thresholds established for positivity rate, that seems a probability. The great: serious illness or worse. Say that prayer for not just the Big Ten but for the sport as a whole, in every conference that is playing, as it seeks to pass through 2020 like a camel through the eye of a needle.

Thou shalt not worship false idols, not even college football.

One of the things I like most about Orgeron is his candor, transparency and brutal honesty, which is a breath of fresh air after having to endure 11 years of Les Miles who wouldn't give you a straight answer if you asked him for the time of day, but apparently LSU's AD thinks this is a bad thing.

          • When Shaun Wade opted out at Ohio State last week (or whenever it was) was that an irrevocable decision, or can he he/others change their minds?

Wade hasn't signed with an agent so he could come back. But many have.

When Dan Patrick was speaking with Herbie this morning it was mentioned that he was on the verge of signing but hadn't yet.

                  • how's this for a wild-ass Pac-12 solution?

Could Pac-12 move teams to Arizona for 2020 season?

                    • Makes some sense...universities are closed anyways.

                      Can't imagine the costs though.

                        • Wyatt Davis returning for the Buckeyes. I'll be surprised if Wade doesnt join him.

For the Big Ten, I wonder if they are planning on having four games a weekend at Indy in the dome. It would be pretty tough playing in Madison, Twin Cities, Ann Arbor, et al in January and late December.

The Big Ten regular season wraps December 12, with the championship game the 19th(playoff selection the next day)

                              • Column: Big Ten football is suddenly ‘safe’? In the reopening debate for sports and entertainment, that word is a lie.

As the Big Ten conference announced its about-turn on fall football Tuesday, the Northwestern University coach was ecstatic. “I’m excited for our guys to have a safe opportunity to play the game they love,” said Pat Fitzgerald.

That was an absurd statement that should have been challenged on the spot.

Big Ten football is not “safe." Never was, never has been, never will be. And it certainly did not make the eye-popping transition from perilous overnight, just because a bunch of university administrators about-faced, thanks to a variety of subtle and not-so-subtle pressures from coaches, players, fans, networks and, of course, campus bean-counters. Not to mention the competitive heat of watching rival leagues dominate the September airwaves.
