In 1941 you can make the argument that the second best player in the league on the best team should win as the difference between Williams and Dimaggio was close, especially if you overvalue Dimaggio's fielding versus Williams hitting and the value of centerfield over left field.

In 1942 it was a travesty,

You don't want Martin in the lineup at all if you can help it. Martin was a decent defender but lousy hitter.

Hit Mantle second behind a good OBP guy and Berra - who never struckout and had good power - third.

    I know all this. I'm saying I don't care. I LOVE RBIs!

That said, you still want a certain batter in the 3-4-5 spots who can drive them home. You want Micky Mantle batting 3rd, not Billy Martin.

You're right that it brought contentious perspectives, but sometimes ya just gotta air the dirty laundry to get the stink out!
That said, it ain't no thang to have or not have.

I'm wid ya. You can't win the Triple Crown (a higher achievement than MVP) without them!

In the last 100 years, these names are sacrosanct:

    Rogers Hornsby
    Jimmie Foxx
    Chuck Klein
    Lou Gehrig
    Joe Medwick
    Ted Williams
    Mickey Mantle
    Frank Robinson
    Carl Yastrzemski
    Miguel Cabrera
