    Note for those from overseas:

Brisbane is pronounced 'Brizzbun' (rhymes with Melbourne aka 'Mel-bun')

And the "bun" is not like a small piece of bread, it's so short, it's really "bn" and it's absolutely not pronounced anything like [Jewish ritual circumcision] + [a source of harm or ruin].

Unsurprisingly, the favoured bidder gets the poisoned (?) chalice.

Sounds like the start of a Monty Python skit . . . "Guvna, can you direct me to the Chumstin (Chelmondeston) platform?"

I know London has hosted 3 times (and soon to be Paris and LA) But guessing this is the first time a country hosted 3 times in 3 different cities.

Haven't looked it up, but Italy will make that list if we allow the winter games. As does Japan. And France.

Heck, in that case, I realize that the US has three different winter games cities itself.

Okay let's forget the winter games, they make it too easy.

Paris is pretty flat, LA less so, Brisbane looks to be set in a bunch of hills, no? The marathons will be of the grinder sort, rather than the racecourse type.

Saying Tokyo has hosted 3 times is a bit of a stretch since 1940 Games never happened..

Saying that Tokyo has hosted three times is not true. Therefore, it is no where near being a stretch. Saying Tokyo has been awarded the right to host the Olympic Games three times is true.

The marathons and race-walks will be held in the Sunshine Coast (an hour's drive north of Brisbane) - the course they usually use for the Sunshine Coast marathon is fairly flat.

I don't think anyone did unless they deleted their post.
