    Meanwhile the talking heads down here think Scott Woodward hit a home run. It speaks volumes about the men the Riley left his job to avoid the stiffest competition and Kelly, who had no competition as an independent, left his job to face the stiffest competition.
    After Frank Leahy left in 1953 ND took a dive as the school de-emphasized football.

      What talking heads? Most of the ones on TV are idiots.

      Wait til LSU is 4-8 one season like ND was in 2016 and see how long he lasts.

      Riley made the right move.. Oklahoma competing in the SEC? Will work about as well as Nebraska in the Big 10.

      Everyone seems to not notice that half of the SEC have losing records each year.

          Notre Dame has had plenty of success at the highest level since 1953 and they were still a name brand producing Heisman Trophy winners even when they had losing records.

          • I used to be critical of coaches walking out on kids they recruited right before bowl games to chase $$$, but I no longer have those qualms now that athletes have as much freedom of movement as coaches do and many of them also choose to opt on bowl games. Gone are the days when coaches would make a bunch of sentimental promises to athletes and their parents. Now everyone knows it just business.

            • I was never a fan of the movie anyways.

                RIP Bobby Bowden . . . to a fault.

                • Given Kelly's recent quote about the fairy godmother it's only a matter of time before the inevitable memes of Scott Woodward as the fairy godmother start showing up.

                  • Always funny watching people trying to talk Notre Dame football.

                    Let me try this...

                    Due to academics ND cannot recruit everyone, just think Stanford, Vanderbilt. So schools like LSU, Oklahoma gets those they wanted. Hard to recruit at ND.

                    That should work.

                    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                    Will Michigan have a hard time getting up for Iowa, I can see it.
                    Why would a coach leave Oklahoma for USC, the Sooners just as iconic. Hmmmmm?
                      At least schools like Stanford, Duke and Northwestern try to win but Vanderbilt doesn't even pretend to care about anything except depositing their SEC checks.
                        Why would anyone play at Vandy to begin with?
                        What seperates the SEC from everyone else is that size with speed thing, so many big fast athletes. Something ND needs more of.
                        Moving the wife the kids to SOCAL from a place like Oklahoma, I wouldn't do it. How much $$$$ does the guy need? He was making more than 7 mill a season at Oklahoma. Had another 4 seasons, that's closing in on 30 mill, that doesn't work.....whoa!!!!!!!!!
                        • What separates the SEC is college football is basically the only thing going in those states.
                          Oklahoma over LA? Right...
                            Not true. Of the 11 SEC states, 6 (Texas, Louisiana, Missouri, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida) have multiple pro sports teams and 5 (Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, South Carolina and Kentucky) have none.
                              Brian Kelly’s Brusque Exit at Notre Dame Is More of the Same From Him
                              The manner of his departure for LSU, days before the Irish find out whether they’re in the playoff, follows the patterns of his previous stops.
