  • Congrats to Devon Allen on Eagles win, does this mean he can make another $11.5k to $34.5k this season while still getting in shape for outdoor hurdling? If he qualifies for the late August WC's, what will he do? I guess he would have a good problem...

    • First time in a while that I felt that the four best teams made the Conference Finals.
I want a 49ers (McCaffrey!) vs. Bengals (Burrow!) Super Bowl. They are both underdogs, but with PM's ankle and Allen looking mortal, I think I'll get it.

Oops! I swallowed some Buffalo Kool-aid!
Eagles had a late season swoon but looked strong vs. Jints.

            • message I got from disgruntled Cowboys fan:

<<Dak Prescott was reportedly so mad at himself that he got to the locker room and threw his helmet. It was intercepted.>>

                • In the last 2 years, Cincinnati has won as many playoff games as it had won in its entire history prior to then and Jow Burrow already holds the franchise record for post-season passing yards.

                  • After taking note of the cash cow that the CFP semifinals have become, the NFL is giving serious consideration to moving its conference finals to neutral sites and letting cities bid on them.

If the Bills had beaten the Bengals last Sunday, tonight's AFC Championship between Buffalo and Kansas City would be happening in Atlanta.

                      • French publication Le Progress reported the following this week (google translate):

"110m hurdles specialist Devon Allen will play in the Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles. Devon Allen, American specialist in the 110m hurdles, will participate in the Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles franchise, which he joined last July. By The editorial staff with AFP - Jan 30, 2023"

Did I miss his activation? Wishful thinking? Lost in translation? Bad reporting? I don't see his name on the 52 man rosters (though he is still listed on practice squad.

You can call it bad reporting but it's a French outfit trying to report on NFL roster management which some Americans have trouble figuring out. Allen is still on the PS.

                          • Good T&F PR opportunity if he is activated; on the other hand the story would probably, for a few moments, shine a Super Bowl-sized-light on the WC timing snafu.

                            • Brady has retired. I think it'll stick this time.

                              Dude was clearly great...clearly.

For my money I'd still put Manning or Montana in the "you die if they lose" QB spot.

He's had, arguably, three HOF "careers:" his 20s, 30s and 40s.

I DO NOT like it when people say he's the greatest football player ever. His era led to a lot of his stats (high offense and medical advances = long career and crazy stats) and his franchise(s) had a lot to do with the wins.

                              And he was QB.

Greatest? Still can't say but my pantheon:

Walter - No less of an authority than Jim Brown might agree. When JB 32 is in awe of you...well. Pound for pound the most violent runner ever. Sweetness.

                              The real LT - Menacing domino-effect game-changer.

Rice - Considering his era (about middling for passing offense historically) he set receiving records that still really haven't been threatened. Imagine if his career started in 2005 instead of 1985 and was just now winding down.

Hutson (Relative to era he was just...too much really)

Sammy Baugh - Played all three phases and was a league leader passing, punting and on defense! I hate, hate, hate that his single season punting record died this year, but it was bound to happen and was being threatened a lot lately.

Jim Brown - much like Hutson I believe his records are somewhat era-based but he was so far better than his league that he was truly Ruthian.

*Peak JJ Watt was threatening...and then injuries. But I can see an argument. I've rarely been in awe of someone in the 21st Century like Watt.

                              • Simple Brady stat- 10 Superbowls in 21 seasons. Won 7, in 2 of the losses he left the game on the final offensive series with his team leading. He's the guy I want on my team. I love Joe Montana, I don't really like TB.... but I still want him as my QB

Picking Greatest player in football is like saying who is better in track and field- Mondo or Bolt or Kipchoge.
