    • As an ACC fan, I’d like to see Miami win it all, but UConn looking really tough.

ACC greatness in the NCAA tourney:
Viewed From Virtually Every Angle, ACC Remains March Madness King By David Glenn   Soon after Miami had clinched its spot in the 2023 Final Four, Hurricanes guard Isaiah Wong fielded a media question about the team’s impressive ability to battle through difficult moments. Most painful moment in North Carolina basketball history. 2016 national championship game. Off-balance three pointer by Marcus Paige tied it with about six seconds ago. All Carolina had to do was play six seconds of defense to send it to overtime and we had the momentum and would’ve won. But this happened.

            • I can see why you would remember that. That ball was in the air a lonnnng time, 0.09 when the ball left shooter's hand.

Don't all college coaches stand up for their athletes when they feel the media has been too tough on them? Do you remember Mike Gundy's "I'm a man, I'm 40" tirade? Nick Saban does this sort of stuff all the time. They probably look at it as part of the recruiting process.

Eh. You'll have to watch it (or not - life's too short).

Is this the video clip you're talking about?

Dawn Staley makes impassioned defense of her team after Iowa loss | ESPN College Basketball - YouTube

If so, I don't have a problem with it. It's a lot more restrained than what I routinely see from men's coaches.

The context of the reaction to the "bar fight" comment was that Lisa Bruder had said after the SC/ISU game that it was like going into a bar fight rebounding against SC. So at least part of Staley's comments seemed to be aimed at that. I didn't have any problem with Bruder's comments as you hear that type of comment about the men's game all the time. However Auriemma had made some other comments about SCs style of play which were, in my opinion idiotic, which may have had Staley lump everything together.

"Male" coaches rather than "men's" coaches. Geno would get away with many things female coaches would not.

Fight your own fight. I meant coaches in the men's game.
