Hey Doc, after the pain and sorrow perpetrated to Bam and me last year by your guys, you get no sympathy this year ! lol lol

Yeah, well, I guess what goes around comes around. I've learned not to be too obnoxious to opposing teams' fans, especially Duke's and Kentucky's. My Demon Deacon brother-in-law I could really rag on most of the time, but he gets so worked up and pissed off when his teams (Deacs, Cubs, Bulls, Bears, Blackhawks) lose it's not worth it.

End of UNC’s season, unless they want to go to the NIT.

If I was UNC I would turn down the NIT - that's kinda demeaning for a program like the Tar Heels. Won't seem right not to have UNC in the NCAA tournament.

"What a difference a year makes" This month last year we got into a bit of coaching criticism. before the final four match of Nova and UNC. UNC handed Nova a humbling defeat. As of today Nova and UNC are out of the Top 64 bracket teams. Poor coaching, younger players, better teams, too many injuries, etc. Not sure if you ran in high school or college but every runner can have bad race or bad year, or injury and you learn that life moves you to another race or year and you aim again for that victory next time or next year. I would think NIT is not for all the "losers" but a free chance to redeem or just play your best together and learn to be a better team than the season showed. As our Chicago Cubs would say "Wait Until Next Year"
I always liked seeing the two losing Final Four teams play against each other before the Final Two game (many years ago).

story in the Raleigh News and Observer said Carolina going to the NIT after the season they’ve had would be tantamount to masochism. This will be only the fourth time since 1974 that the Heels haven’t been to the NCAA tournament.

As I recall, in olden days The NIT was more prestigious than the NCAA.

Correct. Then along came the motorcar and radio. :-)

I believe most baseball fans associate this slogan with Dem Bums:

After the wilderness years of the 1920s and 1930s, the Dodgers were rebuilt into a contending club first by general manager Larry MacPhail and then the legendary Branch Rickey. Led by Jackie Robinson, Pee Wee Reese, and Gil Hodges in the infield, Duke Snider and Carl Furillo in the outfield, Roy Campanella behind the plate, and Don Newcombe, Carl Erskine, and Preacher Roe on the pitcher's mound, the Dodgers won pennants in 1941, 1947, 1949, 1952, and 1953, only to fall to the New York Yankees in all five of the subsequent World Series. The annual ritual of building excitement, followed in the end by disappointment, became a common pattern to the long suffering fans, and "Wait ’til next year!" became an unofficial Dodger slogan.
                    Collected by my mom:

I've always associated "Wait'll Next Year!" with the Brooklyn Dodgers.

October of 1955. I'm in 7th grade. Hundreds of us waiting for their school buses outside Toaz Junior High in Huntington ,LI, suburb to NYC. We are all clustered around dozens of transistor radios. With the final out of that 7th game, a mighty roar shook the schoolyard !

Oh, we had a wind-charger-powered radio.. and have you never ridden a horse to school?

                            The outrage over seeding.

Why did NCAA women's tournament selection committee stick it to Caitlin Clark and Iowa? (msn.com)

Yeah, Iowa won seven of the last eight. but the lone loss to Maryland was ugly. And this article is not questioning another dubious decision of having Virginia Tech at no. 1. (9th in net ranking.) And they are conveniently put in the same region as UConn.

Ignoring all that. How exactly is LSU a 3 seed?

                                1. Their nonconference schedule was ridiculously weak.
                                2. Their conference schedule wasn't strong either, except for South Carolina.
                                3. They got smoked by South Carolina.
                                4. They lost in the SEC tournament even before they had the chance to play South Carolina again.

If I am not mistaken, they played ranked team only once. (South Carolina) Tennessee was not ranked when they played.
