No Levi Stubbs. Wasn't Babs at 197 or something like that. One can dislike her all one wishes to however in terms of the ability to sing a tune, she's as good as any. Of all the RS lists, this one may be the most useless.

I would say there are some songs where Dylan's voice and vocal style works well but I think a lot of that can be attributed to his skill as a songwriter.
Wouldn't disagree with number 1 but would move some other people quite a few places up or down.

Ha!!! I thought the same exact thing! Garbage list. Dylan might be famous/noteworthy...but he's awful.
under that rubric, Dylan is very close to the top of my list

I'm admittedly a Hard Rock/Metal fanatic and often lament the voices I wish did Metal so this warms my heart:
Could have been "The Queen of Metal" as well, she needed only take the crown as her own.Last edited by scottmitchell74; 01-02-2023, 11:44 PM.You there, on the motorbike! Sell me one of your melons!

Of course they have to (rightly!) rank Dylan highly. The publication is named after one of his songs.
as track fans, we should feel snubbed that Johnny Mathis and Garth Brooks were not included.
I’m stupefied that David Draiman didn’t make the list.
And leaving Harry Nilsson off? It’s like the list has no point at all.

Hmmm.... I've heard several song tracks by Billie Eilish but I have yet to hear anything resembling "singing"... more like softly spoken words interspersed by heavy breathing that turns into shouted verbiage shrouded with heavy electronic amplification.

Scanning the list I had to stop several times to chuckle at the juxtaposition of such disparate styles and talents :-)
Agree with TN1965's omissions list and I would add Rhiannon Giddens way up near the top of the list. Also Brazil's Maria Bethania. Oh, and Leon Redbone.
