I attended her concert about 15 years ago. She joked how the venue was getting bigger and bigger every time she came back to the US.
On my way home, my car radio played Josh Groban's "You Raise Me Up" which I had heard during the concert. And I thought "this guy cannot hold a candle to Sissel." (Sorry if I offended any Groban fans.)

Ah, SIssel. The voice of an angel. My absolute favorite female voice ever - would love to see her in concert some day but she rarely comes to the USA, and usually then only to sing with the Morman Tabernacle Choir.

One other voice I thought they might have considered (I realize Sissel is outside their genre) is Jennifer Nettles, whose powerful voice always stuns me

I feel the same way about Shakira. (Her Spanish stuff is much better, although I don't understand Spanish.)

Originally posted by Atticus View PostClearly she has fantastic pipes, but I consider her and Michael Bublé the Vanilla of singers. Great voices but little 'soul' in what they sing. I'd rather listen to Joe Cocker do whatever he's attempting to do than either of them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Bt1eUirALU
