The question I have is: will anyone admit that T&F isn't # -1?
For me NFL football is like a good, slow-burn, long-term loving marriage that started with an intense crush and that punctuates each year with an awesome passionate, romantic rejuvenating month-long vacation.
On the other hand, each year I also manage to have an intense almost maniacal affair with T&F.

When I was growing up I was wild about baseball (SF Giants starting with the Mays/McCovey/Marichal era) & football (49ers starting with John Brodie), and all baseball/football - college included generally. Stayed wild about both teams until:- Giants of the Barry Bonds big-assed head/inflated numbers era. Stopped watching for a few years until Bonds retired and Tim Lincecum came on the scene, the first brick in the building of the SF Giants glory years. But the funny thing is, after they won their first WS in 2010 my 'wild about baseball' pretty much died altogether - it was like it would never get any better - after 52 years that mountain had been climbed. And even though they won two more WS in the next four years, they were not the same for me. It's only coincidental that was also the time they trotted out those ultra-hideous orange uniforms . . .
- 49ers - a huge fan through the glory years and beyond until ahole coach Jim Harbaugh f'd over Alex Smith in 2012. That was it for me as far as regularly watching them.

I know things change as we age. I don't follow baseball nearly to the level of fervor I once did. And I haven't watched a full NBA game in 2-3 years. I used to be a 10-15 games/year + full playoffs guy, but something's different with the NBA.
I think I've narrowed and trimmed the fat. I still have that sports passion but I've hyper-focused it to NFL Football and Track and Field.
That said, these last two years I've had an MLB renaissance and I think it's because I took my girlies to two games in 2021. Nothing like the Live experience to get you back on board.
I DO follow the MLB and NBA stats closely all the time even if I don't sit down and watch. You there, on the motorbike! Sell me one of your melons!

Sorry to hear that, I guess.
Most of the timed saved by not getting in front of the TV or heading to the stadium is spent learning how to manhandle five acres of rural homestead outside of Eugene (lifelong city boy before that) and expanding my limited creative abilities in music and writing, along with helping expand opportunities for artists young & old around Eugene. Nothing worth talking much about but much more rewarding that watching football players beat the crap out of each other week in and week out.Last edited by bad hammy; 01-13-2023, 06:33 PM.

As a kid in Louisville in the 1970s, I lived and died by the Kentucky Colonels. It was heartbreaking when they did not get absorbed by the NBA. They would have been competitive, and we would have gotten to see all the NBA greats of that era play in Freedom Hall.
