Why? They have proved the superiority of 1950's American autoworkers

Could Cuba get an MLB or even an NBA franchise? If I'm remembering
correctly Havana used to have a team in the American minor
leagues before Castro came to power.

the average cuban's health indices are better than the average american's... and also educationally they've done better under the revolution. not a perfect system or a perfect country, but you can't argue with that.

Too bad all those supremely healthy and literate Cubans aren't free to exercise that literacy in reading whatever books they might want.

I'm always conflicted about the conditions in Cuba. It's an amazingly egalitarian and anti-consimerist society where everyon is taken care of, but it's also a repressive totalitarian state. On the other hand, Cuban imprisonment looks very nice compared to Papa Doc's Death Squads. And the official reasons for doing business with China are the exact same official reasons for not doing business with Cuba. Go figure.
