  • When Was The Last Time You Ate a PBJ??

The classic all-american meal: a peanut butter and jelly (or jam) sandwich.

Two days for me - had one Wednesday for lunch.

That's a tough one. I'm leaning towards it not counting. Bread is part of the total PBJ experience. Like having a hot dog with an ear of corn does not count as a corn dog.

This morning - had one before a 30 mile bike ride.

I skip the jelly though - it's always Smucker's crunchy natural peanut butter(gotta love that inch of oil sitting on top lol) and cherry preserves.

Here is what you do with the oil in natural peanut butter. Take the jar from the store and put it upside down on a shelf in your pantry or whatever for a few days. The oil will move to the bottom of the jar. Then open up the jar and use a knife to stir the oil and peanut butter together until it is all nice and smooth. Then store it in the refrigerator. No more oil separation. And it makes for a much creamier peanut butter than you would get if you just pour the oil out.

"natural" peanut butter isn't REAL peanut butter at all; it's just whipped peanuts.

Real peanut butter has calcium polysorbate, red dye #3, sodium proprionate.... you know, Skippy Super-Chunk! :-)

People actually pour the oil out! I paid for that oil dammit. Nobody loves peanut butter more than me and to each his own BUT i mix that oil right in and store at room temp. i know the fridge would keep it from seperating again but when peanut butter is cold it doesnt spread very well.

Same here Squack. I just mix it in each time before I use it. Can't imagine using cold peanut butter.

The secret there is to put the cold peanut butter on warm bread (if you don't like toast), and that makes it nice and gushy again!

The second secret is to make your sandwich about 30 minutes or more before you plan to eat it. It spreads just fine, but that may be because I put it on frozen bread. We don't go thru bread fast enough to leave it out.

And cold peanut butter is fine - I eat it by the spoonful on a regular basis.

I see no reason to wait untill Tafnut gets here for the name calling to begin. Hammy, you are insane. Cold peanut butter? How about some warm ice cream while were at it. Peanut butter should be at least room temp. When its creamy warm it spreads sexy and silky. What do you have with your cold peanut butter, a warm beer? HA-ha-ha-ha-ha......sigh.............

I frequently eat my ice cream at a warmer temperature than my peanut butter. Makes a great room-temp soup.
