    DrJay,

You are pushing the envelope here. Relativly obscure. Over 10 years ago from out here on the left coast.

It's already started in Los Angeles!

As for the poll, I'm not sure what kinds of meat I ate while in Berlin last month. We did have pork knuckle, though -- what I can only describe as a "giant pile of meat"...

I made a braunschweiger loaf (mix in a ton of diced jalapeƱos and shallots, cover with cream cheese) for New Year's party. Can still taste it.

Does liverwurst count? It has been awhile since I had Braunschweiger, and it almost certainly a US knockoff.

Braunschweiger is a subset of liverwurst so I'd say you get partial credit if you had a side of bacon at the same time-(thats what it is.... smoked liverwurst with bacon&baconfat added)

BTW at the 1904 Olympic Games Alfred Braunschweiger won a silver medal for "Fancy Diving".

Ate tons of it while stationed in Post WII Frankfort/Main.. none until about four years ago and none since,... stopped for post-football game meal at local German resturant with fellow track official friend.. the next day, he was in a serious motorcycle/car crash (he was the motorcycle) crushed his helmet, and him, multiple compound fractures in three extremities.. several days in a coma.. he recovered to be able to drive but suffered short term memory loss and could not officiate again.
