Im watching countless arbovitae die a parched death. It is really discouraging to see other areas of the country awash in rainfall and floods while New England continues a bone dry summer into September. Usually it is the other way around, we get excessive rainfall and flooding while we hear of drought in the southwest and midwest.

We got 5 inches from the outer bands as it went west of us in S.W. Florida. A few miles west received 10 inches, plus a tornado (siting). Reminds me of Katrina. It skimmed us with heavy rain and then went on to wreak havoc in N.O.

We haven't seen the sun in a number of days in the Tampa Bay area but, while it has been rainy and heavy for short periods, I'm far enough inland to avoid the heavy rains closer to the Gulf.

        • I don't think the heavy stuff is gonna come down for some time yet. I'd keep playing.

and that is fine as a bit of news, but has no place for further discussion here.

                    • Sounds like a U.S. government program for the distribution of walking sticks to those who need them.

Didn't see that this was followed up on that a firefighter died fighting this fire recently. That could raise the ante with whatever responsibility the state decides the couple has.
