In a previous life I owned property a quarter mile from the Hayward earthquake fault line, supposedly the next 'big one' spot in the Bay Area. The earthquake insurance rider itself was more expensive than the rest if the homeowner policy. No surprise or sympathy that it might be similar for coast residents.

New Jersey's Atlantic white cedar forests are turning from green to a pale white, a sign of creeping sea levels and more frequent superstorms.

                        • Erratic stormy stuff ongoing --expect to last days-- in NE. This morning a large gust hit 80 mph or so, took a large limb down and tore off neighbor's front gutter among other roof damage. I'm fortunate to have power.
