  • Summer of Love Music

Fordham University's station will be playing music from 1967 all day today at wfuv.org

  • #2
Ah, Walt. I have to tell you--if you're with the right woman, every summer is a Summer of Love.

(This message has been brought to you by Mrs. tandfman, who doesn't know that I'm sending it, but would poke me in the ribs if she knew that I had the opportunity to do so and didn't.)

      I'm listening now ( http://www.wfuv.org/audio/stream.html ).

Haven't recognized a song yet - apparently I wasn't paying as close attention to the music scene as a 16-year-old as I thought! Must be a lotta album rock, and I didn't get into that till 1969 and college.

edit - WAIT A MINUTE - THE GIRL DJ JUST SAID IT WAS BRAND NEW MUSIC! I WANT MY 1967 MUSIC!

I clicked straight onto The Doors, Light My Fire...

My favorite internet radio is www.radioparadise.com, quite the eclectic mix.

I'm flying up to the Bay Area later today and driving overnight to this festival with a few ex- hippie dippie Berkeley friends...anyone want to hitch a ride?

No '67 listing is complete without (album and single) Happy Together by The Turtles!

The single booted Penny Lane as Billboard No. 1 and stayed on top for 3 weeks.

That is indeed Classic BG ("Sugar, Sugar" being the archetype), but I submit the lyrics of SHT:

Imagine me and you, I do
I think about you day and night, it's only right
To think about the girl you love and hold her tight
                            So happy together

If I should call you up, invest a dime
And you say you belong to me and ease my mind
Imagine how the world could be, so very fine
                            So happy together

I can't see me lovin' nobody but you
                            For all my life
When you're with me, baby the skies'll be blue
                            For all my life

Me and you and you and me
No matter how they toss the dice, it has to be
The only one for me is you, and you for me
                            So happy together

I can't see me lovin' nobody but you

When you're with me, baby the skies'll be blue
