    American Cars Suck!

    Not so much anymore. The most recent JD Powers Dependability Study has Buick tied with perennial winner Lexus as the most trouble-free new car. Cadillac and Mercury in the top five.

    And not all Japanese cars are well-built. Lexus, Toyota, Honda, Acura, Subaru near the top. Nissan, Mazda, Isuzu, Suzuki near the bottom.

    Had a 5L Mustang from 90-00, worked like a champ till my daughter decided to see if she could take a 180 exit ramp at 60. (ans - no).

      I currently own an '05 Toyota Tacoma & 4Runner.

      I will never buy American ever again after my Jeep fiasco...
      then again, my Toyota was built in Tacoma, WA so it's more American than most "American" car companies.

      '99 Jeep Cherokee
      Warranty was up at 36K
      @38K AC replaced
      @40K all 4 window motors died within 3 months
      @55K transmission was rebuilt
      @70K heat went out
      @80K AC started only working on HIGH
      @90K traded it in for my first Toyota

      For the record, I am extremely easy on vehicles and I do the scheduled maintenance exactly as recommended.

        Well, there's your problem Cooter! Never, NEVER, do the maintenance on their schedule. That's just there to guarantee them steady cashmoney.

        Only do maintenance when the lights go on on your dashboard.

          Ask me in a few years about my new american (korean built) car, Chevy Aveo -- 5 speed manual, manual crank windows, manual seat, manual mirrors, manual locks, no cruise either which is the biggerst bummer, but as you can see nothing can break. It does have AC though, figured that was worth the money. Yes, they still made cars with crank windows in 2007.

                It also came with AM and FM, no CD, but does have a jack for an MP3 player.

                the back seat is just large enough to fit our great dane(i'm not kidding about the dog either)
